<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an identification method for a placed object, for identifying diverse operation on a placing face. <P>SOLUTION: Identification information 2 of a chip and a rotation position thereof is drawn on a side face of the chip. The identification information 2 is printed by use of transparent ink reflecting or absorbing prescribed invisible light, is imaged from a lateral direction by a camera, and is recognized, and information is read. The identification information 2 is drawn in each area obtained by equally dividing the side face of the chip in each prescribed rotation angle from the center of the chip. Each identification information 2 has chip identification codes 31, 32 in two adjacent areas, and has a position identification code 4 positioned between the chip identification codes 31, 32 astride the two areas.
