<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus which can obtain an excellent exposure not depending upon the reflection factor of a subject and a stable exposure reduced in the influence of an error in light emission quantity. <P>SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus includes a sensor 26 for photometry, a control unit 41, a signal processing circuit 43, and a distance encoder 56. Prior to an exposing operation, information on the size of the face of a person is obtained by the signal processing circuit 43. Information on the distance to the subject is obtained by the distance encoder 56. The control unit 41 computes the distance to the subject based upon the information on the size of the face and focal length information. Further, the control unit 41 computes a weighted average value of subject luminances of respective photometric areas measured by a sensor 26 for photometry during an auxiliary light emitting operation of a light emission unit 34. Furthermore, the control unit 41 sets a correction value for correcting the weighted average value of the subject luminances of the respective photometric areas with the distance information based upon a result of comparison between the distance measured by the distance encoder 56 and the computed distance, and determines a light emission quantity of the light emission unit 34 based upon the correction value. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
