PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ball type shape measuring device capable of simply and precisely measuring a frame. SOLUTION: This ball type shape measuring device is furnished with a holding means having holding parts to hold the frame of a pair of spectacles, a measuring element free to make contact with a lens edge groove of the frame and a holding means swinging mechanism to swing the holding means around a virtual shaft at a position separated from a measuring device body as its center and measures the shape of the frame by making the measuring element contact with the lens edge groove, and it is provided with a control means to memorize a swinging angle of the holding means in swinging the holding means by the holding means swinging mechanism, to measure one of ball type shapes of the frame, to repeatedly measure the one ball type shape by swinging the holding means in one direction by controlling the holding means swinging mechanism when opening quantity of the frame exceeds specified value and to swing it in the opposite direction in measuring the other ball type shape of the frame.
