<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel hypoglycemic agent having no risk of producing side effects. <P>SOLUTION: A hypoglycemic agent is used which contains at least one member selected from the group consisting of hemp palm leaves, fruits (including seeds), flowers, barks, stems, and roots or an extract of the at least one member. Here, preferably the at least one member contains hemp palm leaves. The hypoglycemic agent may further contain mulberry leaves or an extract thereof and/or guava fruits or an extract thereof.
