<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the control burden of a drive control circuit, to miniaturize the device, and to reduce a manufacturing cost as compared with a conventional system. <P>SOLUTION: The fluorescent lamp drive device includes: a drive control circuit 10 which inputs a switch control signal S11 and DC power supply, and converts the DC power supply into AC power supply with a prescribed operating frequency; and an inverter transformer 20 which has a primary-side winding for power supply, connected to AC power supply of the drive control circuit 10, and secondary-side windings for driving heater and for maintaining discharge, connected to the high potential-side heater of the fluorescent lamp. The power supply is supplied to the high potential-side heater. The drive control circuit 10 increases the frequency of AC power supply based on the switch control signal S11 to the frequency below discharge starting voltage of the fluorescent lamp during starting of the fluorescent lamp, and suppresses the secondary-side output voltage of the inverter transformer 20 to be lower than that during steady operation. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
