PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology advantageous in obtaining a thin type display device that provides light display hardly causing a lamp image on a screen.

SOLUTION: An optical component 52 includes an optical function layer 1 having a plurality of projections 16 each having a lens or a prism formed on one principal surface, a diffusion layer 26 including a transparent material and a plurality of areas distributed in the transparent material and differing in refractive index from that of the transparent material while at least part of one principal surface faces the other principal surface of the optical function layer 1 with a gap interposed, and diffuse transmission layers 23 and 28 having a plurality of projections 28 each having one principal surface opposed to the other principal surface of the diffusion layer 26 and a lens or a prism formed on the other principal surface, and also having smaller water absorptivity than the optical function layer 1 and the diffusion layer 26.
