<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tonneau cover device for an automobile, certainly performing descending motion of a cover member following a closing motion of a door. Ž<P>SOLUTION: Premising that a slider 55 is pushed out to a lower side by a guide rail 38 and a back door 24, following a closing motion of the back door 24, a leaf spring 56 abutted on the back door 24 following the closing motion of the back door 24 and deformed, is provided on the slider 55. The leaf spring 56 is set so as to displace an abutment point (force point R) on the back door 24 to an upper side making the slider 55 as reference in the progress of closing motion of the back door 24. Thereby, by input load from the abutment point R with the back door 24, a force component toward a function point S of the slider 55 is generated and a push-out force relative to the slider is increased based on the force component and the input load from a guide rail 38.
