<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a retractable multipurpose seat capable of absorbing various dispersions such as the mass of a seat body by facilitating the adjustment of relative relationship of characteristics of a falling moment and a rising moment applied to the seat body, and appropriately and easily setting the falling moment and the rising moment. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This retractable multipurpose seat 1 includes a torsion bar 46 urging the seat body 11 in the rising direction so as to hold the retraction position of the seat body 11, and a balance spring mechanism 51 urging the seat body 11 in the rising direction so as to suppress a tilting speed from the retraction position to a use position of the seat body 11 and having a nonlinear characteristic for lowering its urging force at the use position of the seat body 11.
