<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a smoke detector capable of reducing wiring component cost and reducing the size of its housing. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In this smoke detector 1 provided with a fan 3 for sucking sampling air from wiring for sampling; and a smoke detection unit 2, to which sampling air from wiring for sampling is introduced in an almost box-shaped housing 50, the housing 50 is provided with a chamber 45 in which the fan 3 and the smoke detection unit 2 are stored adjacent so as to be piled up vertically, or arranged in different levels.
