The invention relates to a fuel cell system (10) and a fuel cell stack (14). An oxygen pump (22, 24) which is used for preventing oxygen (40, 42) from being diffused into the fuel cell system (10) or the fuel cell stack (14) is arranged in a zone of an anode (21) of the fuel cell system (10) or stack (14). The invention further relates to two control devices (34). The first control device (34) is used for connecting a pulsed direct voltage or an alternating voltage to the oxygen pump (22, 24) of a fuel cell system (10) or stack (14) according to the invention. The second control device (34) is used for measuring a partial oxygen pressure, testing the tightness, and/or measuring a conversion in a fuel cell system (10) or stack (14) by means of the oxygen pump (22, 24) of a fuel cell system (10) or stack (14) according to the invention. The invention also relates to a method for protecting an anode (21) of a fuel cell. In order to do so, a voltage is applied to an oxygen pump (22, 24) that is arranged in a zone of an anode (21) of the fuel cell. |
