A transmitter assigns priority according to the signal types of signals to be reproduced and inputs the signals to input plugs of the receiver associated with the priority to thereby transmit the signals. The receiver having received the signals from the transmitter reproduces a signal inputted to an input plug with the highest priority. Which signal transmitted on a network is preferentially reproduced can be controlled by assigning the priority to the signal types to associate it with a logical input plug in this way.
