<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rolled web evaluation method for appropriately evaluating the widthwise surface shape of a long rolled web. Ž<P>SOLUTION: According to this rolled web evaluation method, the widthwise surface shape of a magnetic-tape web roll is measured which is formed by winding a magnetic-tape web on a hub, and a measurement result thereof is expressed approximately, in a form of a single quartic function over the entire width of the web roll, by using the least-squares method, thereby quantifying the widthwise shape trend value of the surface of the web roll.
