<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vibration damping device capable of responding to small amplitude vibration and capable of providing effective damping effect over a wider frequency range. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The vibration damping device comprises; a base member 1; four guide bars 2 erectly provided on the base member 1 and including a side surface extending in a vertical direction; a mass member 3 provided in such a manner that the same can move in the vertical direction with guided by the guide member 2 on the base member 1; four coil springs 4 of which both ends are locked with the mass member 3 and the base member 1 and which is provided between both members and elastically supports the mass member 1 to the base member 3; a rubber elastic body 5 fixed to the mass member 3 via a spacer 7 and provided with forming a minute space with the base member 1; and a support member 6 supporting an upper end of the guide cover 2.
