<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a base capable of reducing labor necessary for the construction of a columnar road sign, and a columnar road sign device using the base. <P>SOLUTION: The base is provided with a base fixing portion for fixing a base body to a road surface on the outer peripheral portion of the base body and a supporting and fixing portion for supporting and fixing a lower end of the columnar road sign to the base body on the central side of the base body. The supporting and fixing portion of the base is supported and fixed by screwing a screwing portion provided at the lower end of the columnar road sign and inserted into the base body from above.
