The method involves providing a test-bed device with which an exhaust-gas turbo-charger is operated with impulse-loaded fluid mass flow. An operating point of the turbo-charger to be examined is predetermined and is positioned on the test bed device. The operating point is selected from a fixdely determined characteristic diagram, and is characterized by pressure ratio of a turbine and a fluid mass flow of the turbine. A compressor of the turbo-charger or a backpressure unit of the compressor is positioned based on the operating point. An independent claim is also included for a test-bed device comprising a damping device.
