The vehicle (1) has an internal combustion engine (2), and a thermo-mechanical transducer (3) generating of mechanical drive power by heat energy arising in operation of the internal combustion engine. A control device (16) operates the transducer, and a navigation device (17) determines a position of the vehicle. The control device is connected with the navigation device for operating the transducer to activate the transducer depending on the actual vehicle position when the vehicle probably covers a distance due to the position and/or a route computed by the navigation device.
