<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To further increase a consecutive photographic speed, by eliminating the need for the individual excitation of a motor, when a mechanical shutter is opened and when the mechanical shutter is closed. <P>SOLUTION: In the imaging apparatus, a control section 42 excites the motor 29 for a prescribed period, within the single-cycle operation time of Cycle_Time and executes the opening operation of the mechanical shutter 28, the opening operation of an electronic shutter and the closing operation of the mechanical shutter 28, in the order, while the motor 29 is excited.
