<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information terminal for easily and reliably performing specific functions, such as program update and setup by reducing operation mistakes by a user and to provide an operation method thereof. <P>SOLUTION: A user inserts/extracts an external device (storage device) 20 into/from an insertion slot 14 of the external device while entering a key 12 predetermined with setting information data to thereby perform a tool corresponding to a key code.
