PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture a high purity hyaluronic acid and its salt by a simple method. SOLUTION: A manufacturing method of the high purity hyaluronic acid and its salt includes a purification step of performing an activated carbon adding operation for adding activated carbon into an aqueous liquid containing the hyaluronic acid and the like, a synthetic adsorbent adding operation for adding a (meth)acrylate based synthetic adsorbent and a filtering operation. In the purification step, activated carbon treatment by which a filtering operation is performed to the aqueous liquid containing the hyaluronic acid or its salt after the activated carbon adding operation and synthetic adsorbent treatment by which a filtering operation is performed to the filtrate obtained by the activated carbon treatment after the synthetic adsorbent adding operation are preferably performed in this order.
