<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a battery state determination system capable of determining the degree of degradation of a lead-acid battery with high accuracy. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The DC internal resistance DCR is calculated from the current I and the voltage V when an engine is started (S110). The calculated DC internal resistance DCR is substituted in a predetermined map or formula to calculate the DC internal resistance DCRt corrected to the room temperature from the temperature T of a lead-acid battery (S112), and degradation of the lead-acid battery 50 is determined based on the calculated DC internal resistance DCRt (S152). For example, the mean value OCVave of the open circuit voltage and ΔDCRt/ΔOCV of the change of DCRt divided by the change of OCV are applied to the map, and compared with the predetermined value to determine the degradation of the lead-acid battery.
