<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily perform long-length imaging to place an alignment marker always in an overlapping area of an X-ray flat panel detector (FPD) regardless of the range of the long-length imaging or the position of an X-ray source. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The whole area of the position where the alignment marker set on a screen is projected on the FPD is set in advance as a fixed overlapping area (C<SB>top</SB>-C<SB>bottom</SB>) according to the range of the long-length imaging or the position of the X-ray source. In determining a plurality of field-of-view areas when the range of the long-length imaging is divided into a plurality of sections for the radiography, the field-of-view areas (FOV<SB>NT</SB>-FOV<SB>NB</SB>) and FPD positions P<SB>N</SB>corresponding to the respective field-of-view areas are determined so that the set fixed overlapping areas overlap in the adjacent field-of-view areas. By controlling the height of the X-ray source, the X-ray irradiation direction, the collimator aperture angle and the FPD position so as to apply X rays only to each of the determined field-of-view areas, the marker can be always projected to the fixed overlapping area of the FPD regardless of the range of the long-length imaging or the position of the X-ray source.
