<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lead terminal for capacitor capable of preventing generation of whiskers, in the lead terminal for capacitor which does not contain lead. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A metal wire 1 which a metal plating layer 2, mainly containing tin, is formed on is brought into contact with an aluminum wire 5, and the metal wire 1 and the aluminum wire 5 are connected by arc welding, to make the lead terminal for capacitor. In the lead terminal for capacitor, the metal wire 1 includes a portion 9 without a metal plating layer, and a welding portion 10 is formed at the portion 9 without a metal plating layer, while it is separated from the metal plating layer 2 by arc welding, and further the portion 9 without metal plating layer is coated with a coating portion 2'.
