PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and apparatus for encoding and decoding IPM information that effectively enhance compressibility.

SOLUTION: The present invention provides the method and apparatus for encoding and decoding the intra-prediction mode information. In the method, a coding unit is received, intra-prediction modes of a plurality of sub-units included in the coding unit are determined, a relation between an intra-prediction mode of each sub-unit and intra-prediction modes of neighboring sub-units of the each sub-unit is checked, and information about intra-prediction modes of a plurality of sub-units according to the relations is encoded in an integrated manner.
