PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology capable of appropriately determining the quality of screws by extracting only defects of thread parts of the screws. SOLUTION: This invention is provided as a screw inspection method. The method is provided with a process for acquiring a luminance distribution of the surface of a screw; a process for specifying the position of a point of inflection of the luminance distribution along the axial direction of the screw; a process for positioning mask data to the luminance distribution according to the position of a specified point of inflection; a process for extracting a luminance distribution of a thread part of the screw on the basis of the luminance distribution of the surface of the screw by the use of positioned mask data; and a process for determining the quality of the screw on the basis of the luminance distribution of the thread part of the screw.
