PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a monitoring device for ranging with continuous monitoring, without placing a ranging device side by side. SOLUTION: This monitoring device performs monitoring control for opening/closing a shutter at each timing when laser light emitted from a light transmission part 11 arrives at an object and when reflected light reflected by the object arrives, and also performs during a period when performing the monitoring control, ranging control for opening/closing the shutter at a timing when acquiring distance information of the object.
