<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spinning reel which can be operated to trap a fish in a state that the spinning reel is disposed on a mounting surface, can quickly be moved to an operation for winding up a line, when the fish bites in the disposed state, and can easily stabilize the operation for winding up the line. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The spinning reel 4 includes a reel body 5 having a bottom portion 16a to be mounted on the mounting surface 3a, and an electric motor 44 for driving a spool 34. The upper wall 6a of the reel body 5 has the first region 17 for receiving the palm P of a hand and the second region 18 for receiving the fingers H2, H3 of the hand. The second region 18 contains the first portion 22a for receiving a forefinger H2 and the second portion 22b for receiving a middle finger H3. A pair of switches 59a, 59b for controlling the operation of the electric motor 44 are separately arranged on both the right and left sides of the spool 34, and are disposed in the first portion 22a or the second portion 22b, respectively.
