PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a diaphragm device which achieves a suitable aperture, and to provide optical equipment equipped with the diaphragm device. SOLUTION: The diaphragm mechanism (100) includes a cam (41) which is formed around a predetermined axis (L1), and a diaphragm blade (30) which forms an aperture, and is configured such that the aperture changes according to movement of a cam follower (32) rotating and moving around the axis (L1) along the cam (41) to a first position (P1) around the axis (L1), a second position (P2) where the area of the aperture is changed at a predetermined rate from the first position (P1), and a third position (P3) where the area of the aperture is changed at a predetermined rate from the second position (P2). A rotational angle (5α) around the axis (L1) when the cam follower (32) moves along the cam (41) from the first position (P1) to the second position (P2) is larger than a rotational angle (4α) around the axis (L1) when the cam follower (32) moves along the cam (41) from the second position (P2) to the third position (P3).
