<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coloring composition containing a pigment having good dispersibility, which applies a small load to a pigmentation step. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A medium and a compound represented by general formula (1) dispersed in the medium are incorporated into a coloring composition, wherein R<SP>1</SP>, R<SP>2</SP>, A<SP>1</SP>, and A<SP>2</SP>each independently represent a hydrogen atom or a monovalent substituent; X<SP>1</SP>and X<SP>2</SP>each independently represent a hetero atom; and Y represents an atom group necessary for forming a 4- to 7-membered hydrocarbon ring Q together with a carbon atom to which Y is bound.
