<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet feeder capable of preventing feeding failure by double feeding of a sheet and a paper jam of the sheet, by surely separably feeding a plurality of sheets loaded in a loading part one by one to a carrying passage. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This sheet feeder 51 includes a sheet pressing-down member 51. The sheet pressing-down member 51 includes friction members 5a and 5b slantingly extended in the sheet feeding direction in the approaching direction toward a nip part between a feeding roller 1 and a separation roller 2 from a downstream side position in the sheet feeding direction of the separation roller 2, arranging the extended end in the vicinity of the nip part, capable of abutting on a distal end part in the sheet feeding direction of the sheet loaded in the loading part 52 and energizing the distal end part to the feeding roller 1 side.
