There is a need for a method and device for providing/receiving a user interface. The present invention relates to a method and device for providing/receiving a user interface. In a method for providing/receiving a user interface according to one embodiment of the present invention, a user-interface server encodes, into a multimedia data format, data relating to a plurality of user-interface scene, and sends the results to a user-interface client. When this is done, the user-interface client receives and plays back multimedia data. This arrangement allows the display of a user interface to which diverse effects have been applied with reference to personalised properties of the user-interface client such as user preferences and the performance of the user-interface client.
