The invention relates to a method for measuring temperature-compensated longitudinal strains in a zone of a structural element, said method providing: the step of bonding the substrate (1) of a strain gauge onto said zone, on which substrate a pattern (2) of electrically resistive material and two pairs of terminals (3) in electrical contact with said pattern are formed, said pattern forming a continuous resistive medium along longitudinal and transverse directions respectively and said terminals being formed on either side of the pattern (2) along the longitudinal direction in the case of one pair and in the transverse direction in the case of the other pair respectively; the step of alternately measuring the electrical voltage (Vx, Vy) between the pairs of terminals (3); the step of establishing a relationship between said voltages as a function of the longitudinal and transverse strains, said relationship being independent of the temperature; the step of establishing the transverse strains that correspond to the electrical voltages measured along the transverse direction; and, starting from the relationship and the transverse strains, the step of calculating the temperature-compensated longitudinal strains as a function of the electrical voltage measurements along the longitudinal and transverse directions. |
