A sailing vessel comprises a mast that is movably mounted in a manner that allows it to be moved towards the port side or the starboard side of the vessel. Two supports can be operably attached at either side of the mast, with the bases of the supports being mounted in a manner that allows them to be moved in a different direction from the direction in which the mast can be slid. Preferably the mast and supports are slidably mounted. The invention facilitates rapid adjustment of the positioning of a sail in a manner that can be used to catch the wind efficiently. It can also be used to generate lift and reduce drag. |
