<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To recommend restaurants satisfying the preference of users searching for restaurants, who is not familiar with an area to be retrieved and who is living in the area. <P>SOLUTION: This information providing system is configured of a server 70 which retrieves a database 72 on the basis of retrieval information from information terminal equipment 10, and which returns the retrieval result to the information terminal equipment 10.
