<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a graphite elastic body which compensates defects of a carbon material and is not damaged even when it is repeatedly used, and achieve a stable use and a longer service life. <P>SOLUTION: The graphite elastic body 11 is formed by a graphite material having a microstructure consisting of a plurality of graphite particles and a plurality of pores. When the cross-section of the graphite material is observed by a scanning electron microscope, the density of pores appearing on the cross-section is 250 pieces or more per 6,000 μm<SP>2</SP>, the average area of pores appearing on the cross-section is 5 μm<SP>2</SP>or less, and the average oblateness of pores appearing on the cross-section is 0.55 or less. The graphite elastic body 11 can be formed into a coil spring shape, for instance, by cutting the outer periphery 13a of a cylindrical spring preform 13 which consists of this graphite material at a cutting-off groove 15 of a spiral centered on its axis L. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
