PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that operators of cellular communication systems employ modeling and other methods to assess intervals, namely, coverage (gap) in wireless services but these methods are sometimes theoretical and/or labor intensive, in addition, since the known methods are only capable of taking a snap shot on a given day and, with the nature of radio propagation, such a snap shot can be inapplicable on a second day or third day, there is required a need for determining the gaps of service coverage.
SOLUTION: Usage data are collected during active calls by user equipment (UE) within a cellular network, the collected information being utilized together with location information to locate any gaps in cellular phone area coverage due to dropped calls. The collected data are analyzed and may be used to reallocate resources to alleviate coverage gaps and thereby increase system efficiency and operator revenue.
COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
