PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new apparatus for treatment of exhaust gas containing ammonia gas.

SOLUTION: The apparatus for treating exhaust gas includes an ammonia absorption tank for bringing the exhaust gas containing ammonia gas into contact with water to form ammonia-dissolved circulating water and a gas flow containing ammonia the amount of which is reduced, and an aeration type purification tank for acting Alcaligenes bacterium on the circulating water and the gas flow to convert the ammonia into nitrogen gas.
