<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for treating a fluorine-containing waste acid in detoxification treatment of asbestos-containing waste material, which detoxifies the asbestos-containing waste material easily by using a detoxification aqueous solution containing a waste acid containing boron fluoride ions and can simultaneously decompose the boron fluoride ions even when the waste acid containing the boron fluoride ions is used and the detoxification aqueous solution. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In the treatment of the fluorine-containing waste acid containing fluoride ions and the boron fluoride ions in the asbestos-containing waste material detoxification treatment, the boron fluoride ions are decomposed by adding at least one mineral acid selected from the group consisting of hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, and nitric acid, an aluminum compound from which aluminum ions are obtained in an acidic solution, and water into the fluorine-containing waste acid, and the asbestos-containing waste material is contacted with a treated aqueous solution with the boron fluoride ions decomposed and kept to stand or agitated to detoxify asbestos in the asbestos-containing waste material.
