PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a benzoxazinone-based ultraviolet adsorbent having a low metal ion content and capable of reducing the deterioration of a thermoplastic polymer when the adsorbent is added to the thermoplastic polymer and the mixture is kneaded and to provide its manufacturing method. SOLUTION: The ultraviolet adsorbent represented by general formula (I) and also having an aluminum ion concentration of less than 2 ppm and an iron ion concentration of less than 2 ppm is provided. Wherein, R<SB>1</SB>represents a substituent, n<SB>1</SB>represents an integer of 0-4. R<SB>2</SB>represents a substituent group or a connecting group and n<SB>2</SB>represents an integer of 1-4.
