<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spacer for a water jacket capable of uniformly cooling a plurality of cylinder bores, capable of preventing harmful influence on sealing performance of a gasket, capable of being manufactured at a low cost, and capable of preventing harmful influence on the deformation mode of a cylinder liner. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The spacer 1 inserted into the water jacket 14 of a cylinder block 11 is provided with a spacer body 2 surrounding an outer peripheral side of the cylinder liner 13, and a straightening part 3 integrally formed on one end side of the spacer body 2. Cooling water from a cooling water inlet 15 is straightened by the straightening part 3, and is made to flow to a piston top dead center side of the cylinder liner 13 in the water jacket 14, and is made to flow to one direction around the cylinder liner 13. The flow of the cooling water in the water jacket 14 can be three-dimensionally adjusted, and the cylinder liner 13 can be suitably cooled in both of a cylinder bore 12 arrangement direction and an axial direction of the cylinder bore.
