<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrophoretic display device and a method for driving the same, which can display a prescribed image just after turning on a power supply. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In the electrophoretic display device, each of pixels 40 composing a display unit is either one of a first pixel 401 configured so that the channel width of a P-MOS transistor 711 is larger than that of a P-MOS transistor 731 and the channel width of an N-MOS transistor 721 is smaller than that of an N-MOS transistor 741 and a second pixel configured so that the channel width of a P-MOS transistor 712 is smaller than that of a P-MOS transistor 732 and the channel width of an N-MOS transistor 722 is larger than that of an N-MOS transistor 742.
