<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the thermal efficiency and the durability of an insulation film against thermal cycle fatigue in an internal combustion engine with the insulation film formed on a wall surface facing the inside of a combustion chamber. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The insulation film 20 formed on the wall surface 30a of a base material 30 forming the combustion chamber 13, which faces the inside of the combustion chamber 13, contains a number of granularly formed heat insulators 21 and a membranously formed heat insulator 22. The heat insulator 22 has thermal conductivity equal to or less than the base material 30; the heat insulators 21 has heat conductivity and per-unit-volume heat capacity each lower than both of the base material 30 and the heat insulator 22.
