PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a microemulsion which is stable even in an acidic pH region and excels in a use feeling. SOLUTION: The microemulsion comprises (A) a nonionic surfactant, (B) an anionic surfactant represented by formula (1): Y-O-(EO)<SB>l</SB>-(AO)<SB>m</SB>-(EO)<SB>n</SB>-X (wherein AO is a 3-4C oxyalkylene group; 5≤m≤100; EO is an oxyethylene group; 0≤l≤4; 0≤n≤4; either X or Y or both X and Y are functional groups represented by -SO<SB>3</SB>M, -COOM, -HPO<SB>3</SB>M, -(CH<SB>2</SB>)<SB>q</SB>-SO<SB>3</SB>M or -(CH<SB>2</SB>)<SB>q</SB>-COOM; M is hydrogen or a monovalent inorganic or organic ion; 1≤q≤4; and when either X or Y is the above functional group, the other may be hydrogen, a methyl group or an ethyl group), (C) an oil, and (D) water and has a pH of 2-6.
