<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a moving coil-type linear motor that suppresses a temperature rise of a coil to a practical level with a structure simpler than that of the prior art. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The linear motor includes a yoke 311 which is formed of a ferromagnetic material and whose cross section is a U-shape, a stator 31 having a plurality of permanent magnets 312 arranged along an expansion direction on an inner side of the yoke 311 and having a magnetic gap where magnetic flux density distribution in a sine wave shape or a trapezoidal wave shape appears, and a moving member 32 which has a plurality of air core coils having valid conductor parts positioned inside the magnetic gap and invalid conductor parts positioned outside the magnetic gap, in which peripheries of the air core coils are molded with thermosetting resin and whose cross section is an H shape. The yoke 311 has a plurality of air supply openings 30 communicating an outer peripheral side and an inner peripheral side of the yoke 311 along the expansion direction at a base.
