<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reading apparatus in which a depth of focus is deep and which is small-sized, and to provide an image reading apparatus which improves quality of a read image. Ž<P>SOLUTION: Image forming optical systems 1 are arranged in a first line 215 and a second line 216 in a sub scanning direction 212 and each system is constituted of a plurality of cells arranged alternately in a main scanning direction 211. A light beam moving from a document toward cells in the first line and cells in the second line is tilted in the sub scanning direction. A processor 6 couples images by determining deviation information of images, in the sub scanning direction, caused thereby and further corrects blurring of an image based on a distance from a focal point position calculated from the deviation information to a surface of the original.
