<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermosetting resin composite material excellent in wear resistance obtained by homogeneously and finely dispersing a filler material in a thermosetting resin matrix, a method for efficiently manufacturing the same, and a friction material using the composite material. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The thermosetting resin composite material contains (A) a thermosetting resin and (B) a fullerene particle. The component (B), the fullerene particle, contains no aggregated lump of a size of 500 nm or larger, and is present in the dispersion state. The manufacturing method of the thermosetting resin composite material comprises mixing an organic solvent solution containing a thermosetting resin and an organic solvent solution or an organic solvent dispersion of a fullerene, and distilling out the solvent.
