MOTHER SUBSTRATE FOR COLOR FILTER, COLOR FILTER, AND LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY DEVICE HAVING INCORPORATED COLOR FILTER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mother substrate or the like for a color filter which is practical in the viewpoint of measurement easiness of a phase difference generated in a retardation layer on a part used as the color filter formed on the mother substrate for the color filter, when manufacturing the color filter having an in-cell type retardation layer.

SOLUTION: In this mother substrate 1 for the color filter, a prescribed domain on a light-transmissible base material 3 is used as a color filter formation domain 6, and a color filter-predetermined part 4 is formed, which is equipped with a colored layer having a color pattern formation layer capable of spectrally separating visible light by allowing transmission of the visible light having a prescribed wavelength through color filter-predetermined domains 5 on the base material determined on prescribed domains of one or a plurality of spots in the color filter formation domain 6, and with the retardation layer having a layer A for generating a phase difference to light entering from a prescribed direction. The retardation layer provided in the color filter-predetermined part 4 has a constitution wherein the layer A is formed partially in the in-plane direction of the color filter-predetermined domains.
