<p>Circuitry adapted for optimizing battery performance is connectable to the battery comprising a plurality of battery cells. The circuitry is adapted for interconnecting the battery cells with each other. The circuitry is further adapted for connecting the battery to a charging device and a load. The circuitry comprises a plurality of controllable switches and controller adapted for controlling the switches. The circuitry is adapted to be optimally configured for charging and operation. The controller is adapted for detecting weak or defective battery cells and disconnecting thereof from the circuitry. The circuitry is adapted to be alternatively configured for charging the battery and energizing a load. A charging configuration is characterized by a parallel connection of the cells to the charging device. An operational configuration is characterized by connecting the cells to the load in a predetermined manner such that a predetermined voltage is applied to the load.</p> |
