PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projection type image display device, easily switching an image using a projection type image display device reduced in a distance between the projection type image display device and a projection surface. SOLUTION: This projection type image display device 100 includes an image light generating part 200 and a projection optical system 300. The projection type image display device 100 includes an external power supply obtaining part 500 and an internal power supply obtaining part 600. The projection optical system 300 has a reflecting mirror 320. The image light generating part 200 has an image control part 254 for generating an image light based on a second image data when the power is obtained by the internal power supply obtaining part 600.
