POWER TRANSMITTING CHAIN AND POWER TRANSMITTING DEVICE WITH THE SAME

A power transmitting chain in which the rigidity of connection between pins and pulleys is increased and play of the pins when the pins engage with the pulleys is reduced, which produces less drive noise, and which has improved practical durability. A chain (1) passed over a pair of pulleys has connecting members (50) for connecting links (2) to each other. A first pin (3) and a second pin (4) of a connecting member (50) make rolling and sliding contact with each other at a contact section (T) which changes the position thereof as the angle of bend between links (2) changes. End surfaces (17) of the first pin (3) each have a convex section (20) on which a contact region (21) is formed when the end surfaces (17) make contact with sheave surfaces of the pulleys. The center (M) of the projection of each convex section (20) is located between the position (S1) of a first contact section (T1) when the chain (1) engages with a drive pulley and the position (S2) of a second contact section (T2) when the chain (1) engages with a driven pulley.
