<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrolyte membrane excellent in dimensional stability in a wet state, low in resistance, and excellent in power generation characteristics; and to provide a method of manufacturing the electrolyte membrane having high productivity. <P>SOLUTION: The electrolyte membrane for a polymer electrolyte fuel cell contains ion exchange resin reinforced with an nonwoven fabric made of fluorocarbon resin fibers in which at least part of intersection points between fibers are fixed, as a main component, a layer not reinforced made of ion exchange resin which may be the same as or different from the ion exchange resin is arranged on the outermost layer of one surface or both surfaces, the fluorocarbon resin is polyvinylidene fluoride polymer having a melting point of 240°C or lower, and fixation is conducted by fusing of the fibers. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
